This portrait remembers Lance Corporal Clinton Collins who was only 20 when he died in the Dropping well Bombing ion the 6th of December 1982.
this Portrait was challenging due to the age of the photograph and lack of any information on 1st battalion, Cheshire Regiment online as far as uniform was concerned (for detail in my portrait) as they became Amalgamated into the Mercian Regiment,
My husband was serving in northern Ireland when the bomb went off and he too was only 20 at the time and told me all about it so this portrait was particularly poignant for me.
As with all of my memorial paintings i do not charge for my time to paint them. my gift to the families to bring comfort .
Clintons sister kindly volunteered to cover the cost of materials for this portrait.
